How often does the opportunity to get one’s hair styled by a Four-Time Emmy Award Winning stylist present itself to the average person? And, for a reasonable price? In a small mountain town?
Well, if that small mountain town happens to be Blue Ridge, GA, home of Jack Morton’s Indulgence Studio, the answer is, “readily, but by appointment only please.”
A long-time fixture in Buckhead, Jack opened his Blue Ridge location at 287 Church Street nine years ago, dividing his time between the two. For the past five years, however, the mountains have been home to Jack full-time.
Indulgence Studio offers a full-range of salon services, and the atmosphere is warm, friendly and often comedic. There’s a positive chemistry and spirit between Jack, his colorist, Donna, and the clients, and my visits there have ranged from relaxing and quiet to bordering on “face hurts from laughing.”
With 4 Emmy Awards for Hair, Make-Up & Wardrobe in major motion pictures, film and television, Jack’s wealth of experience and knowledge are especially helpful in the professional area he enjoys the most: corrective work. When something “isn’t the best it can be,” that is a challenge and Jack enjoys a challenge, in hair and otherwise.
When the Christmas tree for the annual Light Up Blue Ridge was in need of replacement, Jack spearheaded a campaign that raised over $30,000 to purchase a new one, and provide funds to have it professionally set up, taken down and stored when not in use.
The new tree debuted at the 2014 event and was an overwhelming hit with the masses that had assembled for the festivities. He also serves as Master of Ceremonies for Light Up Blue Ridge as well as many other charitable events, and has been actively involved in civic activities, presently serving on the Fannin County Development Authority and Light Up Blue Ridge Board. He was named the Chamber of Commerce’s Member of the Year in 2012.
Jack co-owned, with partner Michael Brunson, the downtown shop Wrapsody in Blue, and they still own the home décor store, Wrapsody at Mercier’s, where signed copies of his cookbook, Salon Dish, are available for purchase.
Clearly, he’s a multi-talented man with varied interests, but bringing out the best in every client is still his primary passion. “Hair is an accessory that was given by God. It can be a shield. It can be a security blanket. But it can also be the most freeing thing in the world once you learn to let go and let someone guide you in a different direction.”
Treat yourself to a consultation and session with Jack Morton, and let him enhance your beauty. You will not be disappointed!
