Blue Ridge Cotton Company

Blue Ridge Cotton Company

The snow set us back a week in our “Getting to Know Blue Ridge – Business of the Week” series, but it’s gone and we’re back at it!

I’ve been dying to get into the Blue Ridge Cotton Company and check them out ever since our regular guests, Team James, raved about it during their visit last September. Today, I finally got there. (Hey, being a small business owner who is extremely hands on isn’t about eating bon-bons and lounging in your PJs all day, you know!)

Owned by Gary Steverson and Josh Durst, the Blue Ridge Cotton Company features “clothing, inspirational items, accessories, journals and gifts.” Well. Anyone who knows anything about me knows they had me at “journals.” It’s quite true; I suffer from a severe paper fetish.

From the moment you approach via the wide porch, the store welcomes you and draws you in. Pillows and adorable signs with fun sayings adorn the porch. Upon entering the store, I was pleasantly greeted by Rhonda Belcher, who was manning ops that day. A recent Florida transplant, she and her husband had a home in Blue Ridge for four years before making this area their permanent home six months ago.

This is a store that you need to make multiple laps around, because the coolness factor of the items is so high that you’re going to miss things on the first, second, and third passes.

From beautiful home décor to the cotton kitchen towels with fun sayings, beautiful soaps, interesting books and the hats and clothing, there is something for everyone. Don’t forget to check out the sale closet which offers items at 50% off!

This week, there is a special on zip-front hoodies with Blue Ridge logos: at 30% off of $29.99 they are an excellent deal and super soft!

I couldn’t resist picking up a few items for myself, and a few gifts for friends.

Blue Ridge Cotton Company is a ‘feel good’ store; its casual, relaxed atmosphere and interesting merchandise will keep it on my list of places to stop when I’m in town. Do yourself a favor and give them a look. I think you’ll enjoy it!

Located at 544 East Main, Suite 2, in downtown Blue Ridge, you may contact them at 706.632.8990 or visit their website at Open 10-5 daily.
