If you’re seeking something a little different, a little funky, and a lot FRESH for lunch or dinner, then you will want to check out Fightingtown Tavern, located at 511 E Main Street (above the Blue Ridge Olive Oil Company) in downtown Blue Ridge.
Proprietors Rhonda & Jim Caruthers are all about the fresh in their menu offerings. Our extremely knowledgeable server, Jackie, explained, “Nothing is processed or frozen. The beef is local from Ellijay and grass-fed. We source local greens, and we even make our own sauces.” She wasn’t kidding either: they make their own ketchup and it is delish!
Their website slogan is “Hard Rock Cold Brew” and the music is pumped up, so if you’re looking for a place to quietly snuggle and romance your honey, this might not be the best choice. But the tunes are great (grunge, rock classics) and the bar and patio are set up for fun!
Big flat-screens in the main dining/bar area, billiards room, and patio ensure you won’t miss the big game. Oh – did we not mention the billiards? Pay by the half-hour to demonstrate your skill! Darts and shuffleboard are also available at no cost!
The menu offers a fine variety of items, and is hysterically fun to read as well. We had the Black and Blue Burger with the Bacon Mac-N-Cheese as a side, and the Reuben with Fries. Both were outstanding. Pets are welcome on the patio so if you are downtown with your pup and in need of sustenance, this is an option.
Fightingtown Tavern offers a full bar, and carries local beer and wine. They offer flights of whiskey and beer, and weekly alcohol as well as food specials.
Closed on Wednesdays, their hours the remainder of the week are 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Mon, Tues and Thurs, 11 a.m. to 12 a.m. Fri and Sat, and 12:00 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Sun.
With a "local bar, everyone’s welcome, friendly" vibe and outstanding food, this is a place worth checking out!
